Learning Support Assistant Expression of Interest

Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) are invaluable within Catholic schools as they provide support and assistance to students and teachers alike. Your working day will never be the same as the type of support you provide differs depending on the student and classroom you are working within.

Prior to the submission of an expression of interest for the casual workforce, it is important that you have certified copies the following prepared : 

  • Valid employee Working With Children Check (WWCC)

  • Passport, drivers license

  • Details of referees that are a direct line manager

From the submission of this expression of interest, if shortlisted, the Leader of Casual Teacher Development and Engagement will be in contact with you and the People and Culture Team will guide you through the pre-employment process which will include checks regarding:  Working with Children Check, National Criminal Check, as well as other compliance checks.

Cover Letter

Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) provides support for students with disability in classrooms and other learning environments under the direction and supervision of a teacher to support the achievement of educational outcomes. This support includes student welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required. In addition, Learning Support Assistants may provide specific support for students in discrete classes or specialised settings. Learning Support Assistants working in these settings have specific additional duties, in addition to the general duties for Learning Support Assistants that are required to be performed.

  • Classroom Support: Assist students with disabilities in classroom activities to help them achieve educational goals under the supervision of teachers.

  • Welfare and Wellbeing: Provide support for students' health and wellbeing, including personal care and creating a safe, supportive environment.

  • Specialised Assistance: Perform additional duties in specialised or discrete classes, tailored to meet specific needs in these settings.

  • Collaboration: Work with teachers to adapt materials and strategies, contributing to individualised learning plans and maintaining a positive classroom atmosphere.

  • Monitoring: Observe and report on student progress and concerns to support effective educational strategies.
